IS THE PREDICTIVE DIALER THE FUTURE OF TELEMARKETING?

A predictive dialer is defined as an advanced computerized system that can automatically dial many telephone numbers and connect calls to available agents. Sales companies or campaign organizations with call centers use predictive dialers to solicit as many people as possible on the phone. Predictive dialing can be a very effective tool for marketers and various types of companies so they may reach a large audience in a minimal amount of time.

The many types of predictive dialers include software, hardware, hosted and smart dialers. Here are a few types of predictive dialers in greater detail:

  • Soft dialers have a lower cost, but you must have an updated PBX system for this type of predictive dialer to work.
  • Hard dialers are more expensive, but require less telephone connections and often have the ability to successfully detect an answering machine or call in progress.
  • Smart dialers can play an introductory recorded message when the call is answered, then give the option to speak to a live agent. This can cut costs by limiting the amount of agents needed, however people are less likely to respond positively if they hear an immediate recording the moment they answer the phone.
  • Hosted dialers require no computer or telephone hardware or licenses. All you need is an Internet connection and a telephone line for each live agent.

Be sure to choose a predictive dialing system that can match the amount of available agents. If your system doesn’t generate enough calls, agents will sit idle – wasting time and money. If the system makes too many calls however, you may not have enough agents to handle them. Do your research and choose a sophisticated system that will generate the appropriate amount of calls.

As you begin researching predictive dialers, remember to assess your current situation in terms of available funds, resources, hardware and internet connection to see which type of predictive dialer is right for your organization.
